About Me
Hi! I'm Amy Pond, owner of My Only Sunshine Photography, and I have loved photography for as long as I can remember. I can still remember being nine years old and trying to set up artistic shots of sunsets, flowers, and even my pets. In high school, I took four years of photography with an inspirational teacher, and fell in love with the artistic freedom I had with my vintage Canon and a darkroom. I purchased my first digital camera in 2007, and never looked back! The possibilities with digital photography were endless! Before I knew it, friends and family were asking me to take photos of special events, their families for their holiday cards, or their newborn babies. My love for family photography took hold and hasn't let go. To me, there is just something so fulfilling and special about capturing those precious moments for people.
Other than owning a photography business, I am a mom of three adorable, little girls who are the center of my universe. Being a mom has helped me see even more beauty and power in photography. You're only pregnant for so long, and babies and children change so quickly. Photos are one of the best ways to capture memories of that beautiful bulging belly, those tiny little fingers and toes, those adorable, innocent smiles, and those wide eyes of excitement that only a child can have.
My Photography
I love photographing with natural light. In my opinon, there is no better lighting than what Mother Nature has to offer. The warm glow of the morning and late afternoon sunlight just can't be beat when it comes to natural light photography, and I try to schedule my outdoor sessions around those times of day. Bring on the cloudy days too! I love the softness clouds add to a photo, and boy do they make colors pop!
I hold newborn sessions at my home studio in central Connecticut. I love to have new moms (or dads :) ) participate in the session by "assisting" me with poses and props. I feel that when parents have a role in the photos, it makes them even more special.
